After several years planning and research, we compiled a list of common symptoms that make people anxious to consult doctors.

We found, more than 70% of patients consulting a doctor, as emergency did not have any serious illness that required clinical examination, tests or referral to specialist in hospital. Using our finding, we created Maya to help you learn how to differentiate:

MINOR ILLNESS

Can be managed by nurse or chemist with no formal medical school training to clinically examine or prescribe antibiotics.

MODERATE ILLNESS

Must be seen by A Doctor who may clinical examine, perform tests or investigation. Patients with the combination of symptoms must not be diagnosed and managed by nurses or chemist.

Delay in diagnosis and treatment may result in minor, serious complication or death.

SERIOUS ILLNESS

Must be treated as an Emergency by a specialist in a hospital and not managed at home by family doctors, nurses or chemist.

MAYA IS NOT A TOOL TO HELP YOU DIAGNOSE ANY ILLNESS BUT WILL HELP YOU DIFFERENTIATE MINOR FROM SERIOUS ILLNESS.

Our mission is to help reduce wasted consultation but also alert you when the combination of symptoms are potentially serious. We hope to encourage you to consult doctors as an emergency or routine medical appointment to help reduce complication and long-term illness.

"Maya" was developed with a passion to offer primary care to fellow human using medical knowledge and experience. We have used the same criteria for thirty years to differentiate Well from Unwell patients who required hospitalisation.

WHY USE MAYA?

The threat of emerging and antibiotic resistant bacterial infection is real. It is mandatory to reduce patients with infections visit hospitals, clinics or healthcare centres to reduce cross infections and antibiotic abuse.

Maya thinks and act like a junior doctor and not like a triage nurse. Based on the symptoms you choose, Maya will grade the severity of your illness and advice you to speak, consult or go to hospitals. Patients with serious emerging infections (Ebola or H1N1) will be quickly identified and isolated to protect doctors, nurses and help reduce spread in your community.
